Covid-19 Vaccination update

Posted on February 8th, 2021

As you may know our practice has worked in conjunction with the 15 other practices in our local area to deliver a Covid-19 vaccination service from the Grantham Meres Leisure Centre.
For the vast majority of patients the location of the service matters far less than the speed of vaccination and we have been heartened by the extremely kind and generous feedback we have had from patients about the efficiency and quality of the service we have provided.
Over the past 2 months we have managed to provide a 7 day a week service for patients living in North and South Kesteven and vaccinated well in excess of 20,000 vulnerable people.
During this time we have offered vaccination to everyone living in care homes (tier 1), those who are over 80 and health and social care workers (tier 2), everyone over 75 (tier 3) and are currently vaccinating patients over 70 years of age and the clinically extremely vulnerable (tier4) meeting the government’s target of all of the most vulnerable in our area, in the top 4 tiers being offered vaccination before the 15th February.
Where most patients have travelled willingly the relatively short distance to Grantham for this life saving vaccine we absolutely recognise that for some this journey may just be too much to manage.
In the Sleaford area we have now vaccinated hundreds of patients in their own homes and those living in care homes who are unable to travel and have delivered outreach vaccination clinics at our local practices in the Sleaford area.
More than a thousand patients from the 6 practices making up the Sleaford Primary Care Network (PCN) have been vaccinated at Ruskington surgery and plans are in place to vaccinate at other practices in the Sleaford area over the next few weeks. This will ensure patients who genuinely struggle to travel to Grantham can be vaccinated locally.
We ask that those who can travel do, ultimately it is quicker and more efficient for us to vaccinate from our main centre but we will, as a group of practices local to the Sleaford area and in conjunction with our local healthcare partners ensure that no patient who wants to be vaccinated is left behind.
