Flu Vaccination Campaign 2023

We are in the process of booking flu vaccination appointments for the upcoming flu season. The majority of these appointments will take place in late September and October due to the delivery dates of our vaccines. This year we will be sending text messages to as many patients as possible to allow them to book their own flu vaccine. This will enable you to pick the date and time that suits you and helps to free up our already busy Reception teams.

If you believe that you are entitled to a vaccination as per the list below please contact Reception if you haven’t already received a text message or phone call. If you would like to receive an SMS link in the future please contact the surgery to ensure we have you signed up to this service.

Patients eligible for flu vaccination this year:

• Aged 2-3 years old – nasal flu immunisation
• School-age children – this will be dealt with at school
• Aged 18-64 years old with medical conditions requiring a flu jab
• Aged 65+ years old

In response to feedback from patients, we have created a ‘how-to-guide’ on booking your flu vaccine via our SMS link. Please follow the steps and screenshots laid out to guide you through this, please ensure you follow each step. If after following this guide you still cannot book an appointment this way then please contact the surgery.

1. You will receive two text messages, please wait to receive the second message, this will have a link to the booking platform. Please click/tap on the link to follow it through (sample messages are showed below, yours may look different to this):

2. When you have clicked on the link you will then see the below screen. In the bar entitled ‘Date of birth’ please write this in in the format of ‘1/1/2000’ (the system will not allow variations on this, so please ensure it is written as above). Once you have done this please press ‘submit’.

3. Once the system has verified your date of birth against your individual link you will then be taken to a page to see the available appointments. It is most likely that at this point you will be told there aren’t any available sessions, this is because it will be looking at the next 14 days only. To change this please click on the date period to see future dates.

4. This will take you to a drop-down menu to select future date periods. Please work through these. Once you have selected a range you must press ‘Show’, if you do not press show you will not be able to see any availability. If once having pressed show you still don’t see any availability, please move on to the next period and do the same again.

5. When you come to a period that has available slots your screen should look like the below. You can then click ‘view’ on the date that you would like to book.

6. Once you have pressed view you will be able to then see the specific times available on that date. Please find the time that you would like and press ‘book’.

7. To confirm your appointment, you need to click ‘Book Appointment’ on the next screen. Once this is done your appointment has been confirmed and booked in. You then have the option to print this confirmation if you want, although it isn’t necessary.
