Recycling Project Staff Training 24th April 2025 Patient Feedback for the CQC Treatment Room service
You may be aware that, sadly, we had to make the difficult decision last year to stop offering our Treatment Room service (including dressings and stitch removals). This wasn’t a decision we took lightly. The service simply wasn’t funded properly, and we’d been running it at a loss for many years. Eventually, it became financially unsustainable, and we were no longer able to cover the staffing costs needed to continue.
We know this change had a real impact. Over the past few months, many of you have had to travel – sometimes quite far – for appointments at alternative sites arranged by Lincolnshire ICB, and we fully appreciate how frustrating and, at times, distressing that’s been. We also understand that the decision to withdraw the service was disappointing and difficult to accept.
Over the past six months, we’ve been working hard alongside our GP Federation, K2 Healthcare Ltd, to continue discussions with the ICB in the hope of finding a solution. Our belief – and that of our neighbouring practices – has always been that wound care is best delivered by your own surgery, with people you know and trust. It was never a situation we wanted our patients to be in.
So we’re really pleased to let you know that from 1st April 2025, the ICB has agreed to fund the service at a more realistic and sustainable level. This means we’ll be able to offer Treatment Room appointments again with our nursing team from that date.
We hope you’ll agree that this is a really positive step forward. Thank you so much for your patience, understanding, and ongoing support.
