Two weeks ago today the Practice introduced a new system called askmyGP for managing appointments and the way that we communicate with patients.
AskmyGP does exactly what it says, it allows patients to communicate directly through a smartphone, tablet or PC with their GP and ask questions about a problem they would like help with.
The usual response time to a question is less than an hour in normal surgery hours and you can choose how you would like to receive that response, either an electronic message, a telephone call or a face to face appointment.
Understandably over the last 2 weeks the majority of responses have happened over the telephone or by message with a small number of face to face appointments where absolutely necessary.
You can access the service 24 hours a day, there are no queues for the telephone in the morning and patient feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
Some patients are unable to use a computer or they do not have access to the appropriate technology. Patients using askmyGP rather than the telephone have freed up time for our reception team to speak with those patients who need a little more support. This has made it easier for them to get through on the telephone so we would urge anyone able to use askmyGP to do so if they need help.
You can ask for help on behalf of a loved one or someone you care for if they are unable to do so themselves as long as they are patients at the Practice.
